What is Crystal Violet

Crystal Violet is a triarylmethane dye and occurs in the form of a dark-green powder with a metallic luster. It is used as an acid-base indicator for use in biological stains and non-aqueous titration, the color scale spanning from green (PH 0.5) to blue (PH 2.0).
