Carmoisine, also known as, Azorubine, Acid Red 14, Red 10, and Food Red 3, is a dye belonging to the group of azo dyes. It is a synthetic red food dye consisting of two naphthalene subunits. It is approved in the EU and India but is not on the lists of approved food colors in the U.S. (was listed in 1939 as FD&C Red No. 10, but later removed in 1963) and in Canada.
