Atovaquone is a synthetic naphthoquinone compound with antiprotozoal activity. It is a yellow crystalline solid that is practically insoluble in water. It is sold under the brand name Mepron (oral suspension) and is generally used for the treatment and prevention of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP).
