The brilliant blue FCF dye, often known as Blue 1, is a synthetic organic chemical that is categorized as a triarylmethane dye. It is referred to by the E number E133. It is one of the oldest color additives that has been approved by the FDA, and its primary application is as a blue colorant in processed foods, pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, and cosmetics. It is widely considered harmless and non-toxic.
