Uranine also known as Acid Yellow 73, is a phthalic indicator dye that appears orange-red to dark red in color. It is a water-soluble and fluorescent dye. It is used as a fluorescent tracer and exhibits the highest levels of fluorescence in the pH range of 6 to 11.
The Indian patent office has granted a patent to Macsen Drugs, a unit of the Macsen Labs group. The patent relating to the field of chemistry is titled “Process for the preparation of crystalline fluorescein Sodium from diacetylfluorescein or Fluorescein”.
