Uses
- In the process of organic synthesis, Selenium Dioxide is a very useful reagent and can be used as an oxidizing agent to introduce carbonyl functional groups, as a catalyst in the allylic hydroxylation reactions and oxidative-elimination reactions, etc.
- Selenium dioxide imparts a red color to glass. It is used in small quantities to counteract the color due to iron impurities and so to create (apparently) colorless glass.
